As a group we looked at and discussed the mark scheme for filming and looked at the type of skills we will need to perfect. Aslways pushing ourselves, we decided to work at the highest degree, Level 4:
'Level 4
The candidate is expected to demonstrate excellence in the creative use of most of the following technical skills:
. Holding a shot steady, where appropriate
. Framing a shot, including and excluding elements as appropriate
. Using a variety of shot distances as appropriate
. Shooting material appropriate to the task set
. Selecting mise-en-scene including colour, figure, lighting, object and setting
. Editing so that meaning is apparent to the viewer
. Using varied shot transitions, captions and other effects selectively and appropriately
. Using sound with images and editing appropriately for your task
Where a candidate has worked in a group, an excellent contribution to construction is evident.'
As a group we will all contribute to all these factors and develop our skills. But to be effective we have developed a tactic and plan to stick too. As we have four members in our group and there are eight key points, we will each focus mainly on two and give 100% in our field. This way, we will gain key group skills and communication and together produce a music video of the highest standard.
I have chosen to focus on:
. Using a variety of shot distances as appropriate
. Shooting material appropriate to the task set
This is clearly aimed at camera work as these technical skills interest me.
Using a variety of shot distances will keep our video varied and fresh with a mix of Long Shots, Mid Shots, Close Ups and Extreame Close ups. I have already began to look at these and there is a 'Shot' section on my blog.
'Shooting material appropriate to the task set' will have me keeping the equipment prepared and right for each scene. An example of this will be a tri-pod for a steady shot.
As well as my selected two, I will still be heavily involved in all aspects of our music video, including all eight sections of the Level 4 mark scheme.
